Capstone Project: The Selfie and the Female Image
Being an Arts and Humanities major is about being discerning. It is not enough to consume the end products of cultural creation. As spectators of the world, we have to understand the funding, contracting, framing, trimming and censoring of imagery before it reaches our eyes. This is what my education has allowed me to do, and now I can craft my own stories and amplify the voices of others.
In the time since my graduation from Yale-NUS College, I have been working as an illustrator, designer and occasional writer. I have embarked on solo projects as a creator, and have also worked on team projects to translate client ideas into coherent visions. My recent works include illustrating Pa Ang Bao (a children’s book on growing up in Singapore), design work for the Ayer Ayer Project, and a longform article on migrant construction workers for Mynah Magazine.
